The 62 Yea's
The list below contains the names of all the lawmakers who voted "yes" to send the anti-gay marriage amendment on to the next constitutional convention.
Our representative Ellen Story and our state senator Brian Lees (who was Mitt Romney's right hand man) both voted to kill the amendment. The only lawmaker representing our district who supported the anti-gay marriage amendment was our incoming state senator Gale Candaras. Mass Scorecard, though far from comprehensive, rates lawmakers on how well they vote along the lines of the Democratic platform. Area lawmakers not supporting marriage equality tend not to stand strong on the platform.
Tom Petrolati of Ludlow, Sean Curran of Springfield, and Michael Kane of Holyoke all earned D's for there performance. Gale Candaras earned herself a C. The Republicans on the list obviously earn lower grades at MassScorecard, but after all, they go to a different school with a different grading system. As a teacher, I know grades aren't always the best measure of a student's work, but I would like to see Senator Candaras make the honor roll this year.
