Libary Hosts Lisa Maria Lanno and Tarographing

Aside from the Council on Aging, the Granby Public Library is the busiest place in town. With events for children and adults, there's always something going on. Last month, local author Lisa Maria Lanno taught about handwriting analysis and tarot cards.

The Republican reports:
Neither tarot - a deck of 78 cards with pictures - nor handwriting analysis involve special powers. Rather, giving people a "reading" with either involves a bit of acquired knowledge, along with a strong knack for tuning in to strangers in order to quickly understand something about who they are.

"Some people are really intuitive," she said. "Don't ask me for directions, because I'm sure not good at that. But I am good at intuitive things, and that's what I've chosen to fine-tune."

Lanno, of South Hadley, is the author of a children's book, "The Secret Cave," released in 2007, but this event was designed for adults. A lively, engaging speaker, Lanno is adept at storytelling and incorporated plenty of humor and personal anecdotes into her talk. After giving some basic background on how handwriting is analyzed, she asked participants to jot down a few sentences. Then she circulated, explaining to people what their forward-slanting penmanship and widely spaced sentences were telling the world. Participants responded with nodding heads, broad smiles and chuckles of recognition.
