Flag Burning Freak Torches Family Flag

When I first saw this story, my guess was that the police already had a good idea of who was the guilty party. Political groups usually attack the personal property of regular people; it doesn't send a clear message. I'm not against flag burning, though I'm not in favor of it either, but I am against people lighting things on fire near people's homes.

The wacko who burned the flag of the family lives at 400 Bridge Road signed his name as the 'American Patriot Liberation Front.' My googling turned up one organization by that name. I contacted the guy associated with it, and not only are he and his friends not the type (military, gun rights, and right wing) to burn a flag, they all live out in California and Arizona.

I'm betting now that the nut who burned this flag is a pyro, not a patriot (or an anarchist for that matter). The DHG reports:
NORTHAMPTON - A 5-by-9-foot American flag hanging from a birch tree only feet away from a Florence home was torched and left in tatters Friday night in what police say was a random act of vandalism.

Eamon F. Mohan, whose family lives at 400 Bridge Road, said Sunday he did not want to comment about the incident. Firefighters responded to the home at 11 p.m. Friday.

A new, smaller, U.S. flag already hangs in place of the burned one. Mohan mentioned that his daughter is currently serving in the Marines and his son, who will graduate this year, has enlisted in the service.

The perpetrator also left a politically charged note taped to the family's garage door. Police said the note, signed by the 'American Patriot Liberation Front,' contained complaints about the U.S. government and anti-war statements. No further details about the note were released.
