ZBA Allows Dean Hatch to Build New House

Dean Hatch's representative bdbirmingham announced on Masslive's Granby Forum:
Last night the zoning board agreed that the Town cannot stop Dean from replacing his home as State Law states that even after a zoning change a person in the Commonwealth has the right to continue using the property as it was being used before the zoning change as long as the repairs/replacement doesn't adversely affect the Town and as he is replacing his home with one half the size the Town cannot restrict him from replacing his home even if now it would not comply with the new zoning. Dean and Mary were advised that the Board was advising Mr. Demers, the building inspector, to issue a permit. Mr. Demers has wanted to help since day one and now Dean can build a home that he can use more than 2 rooms. The house is going to be a stick built ranch style home and he really could use help with the framing and roofing. He has a contractor who is donating his time with framers working for cost but many hands will make the job go faster.
